Frequently Asked Questions

International Shipping Information - Orders outside the USA

Do you ship to my country?

YES, we can ship to all parts of the Globe!

Shipping charges for destinations outside of the USA are estimated and paid at the time the order is placed.  But if the actual shipping cost is higher, the customer may be charged for the balance of shipping due.  We normally ship non-USA / international packages by USPS Priority International, or parcel post.

If you prefer your order to be shipped via Fed Ex, just type in your request in the "Order Comments" box on the bottom of our web site's checkout page.  Additional shipping charges will apply and we will be in touch to go over your options and collect the extra shipping charges before shipping.

Customs, import fees, VAT, etc. Your order may be charged customs fees by your country (taxes, duties, processing fees, brokerage fees, etc.) when it arrives. Unfortunately, we have no control over these fees. If you are not familiar with the customs fees in your country, please check with your local customs office for more information.

The shipping charges you pay to us DO NOT include customs fees, import taxes, or duties.

Can you mark my international shipment as a gift to help me avoid customs tariffs and duties?

Sorry, no. Marking a commercial sale as a gift violates import/export laws of the countries where we do business. Since we try really hard to not violate laws, we can not do this for you. We are very sorry that tariffs are so high, but if you make that request as part of your order, we cannot honor your request. We will ship your order with proper export documentation.

International orders may be subject to review by our finance department to validate your identity, confirm shipping address, etc. If we are unable to confirm your shipping address by contacting your bank, we may contact you by email requesting additional information to verify your identity as the authorized account holder.

Product Information

How is your clothing sized? Does it run larger or smaller than modern clothing

Our clothing runs " True to size " which means if your waist measures 32 inches you would wear a size 32 trouser. But remember that old time skirts and trousers were higher cut and worn higher on the waist so make sure to measure around your natural waist above your hip usually were your belly button is. See Our Sizing Chart For More Information.

What historical time period are your products?

Our Products are authentic between 1860 and 1900. Over these years some of the fabrics, patterns and styles had significant changes. If you are creating an impression of a specific time or year. please call our staff will be happy to advise you on appropriate garments, styles and patterns for your time period.

Will you do alterations? Hemming garments shorter, changing collar style. adding elastic or zippers?

Unfortunately no. We do make every effort to satisfy our customers needs and wants but over the years we have found that doing specialized modifications on our products not only significantly increased the production time but also increased the chance for miscommunications or misunderstandings.
