Shaped like a huge bowie knife with a 16 inch blade, nickel over brass handle with fish scales grip. Near the pommel has a flaming bomb cast into the handle. There is some lettering at the hilt but I can not read anything. May have been from the Civil War, but the grip and cross guard are different that what you usually see. Most short swords have spear point blade this one is shaped like a very large bowie blade. Condition: Blade has gray brown patina though out with very little pitting.
