In 1875 Harrington and William Richardson formed the new H&R company. Along with many other firearms H&R made between 1887 and 1940, were about 1.3 million of these top break revolvers. They are known as "Automatic Ejection" revolvers. This one is also know as the "Police Automatic Revolver"

The original H&R firm was in business for over a century from 1871 to 1986. It's roots are deep in the mid-19th century. Between 1887 and 1940, there were about 1.3 million of these top break revolvers. They are known as "Automatic Ejection" revolvers. This one was made in 1896. That said it looks like it was made yesterday. 99%+ nickel finish. The left grip has a chip out of the bottom, but otherwise the grips show no other chips or cracks. This gun is mechanically perfect. The blackpowder bore is very good with strong rifling. A prize for any collector.
