Misses Split Skirt, Vest, jacket and Leggings
The
split skirt has a total of 8 panels with a fall front opening that closes with
buttons. There are two optional patch pockets on the front. The front flap shown
in View A is detachable. View A has a finished length of 40Ó and view B is 30Ó.
The top can be made as a vest or a jacket with sleeves. The front does not overlap
and meets at center front. The leggings can be made with front openings or side
openings.

View A Ladies Bicycle Costume is a copy of a period 1890s pattern. It includes a double breasted Basque with collar and revers (lapels), Leg O Mutton sleeves, pleated back, and belt. The skirt has double box pleats in front and back, with roomy bloomers underneath. The bloomers blouse over the leggings and are made of same or similar fabric as the Basque. A dickey with a high collar goes under the Basque. The Leggings are a copy of a vintage pair. View B Basque is a representation of a hunting Basque depicted in HarperÕs Bazar. The front is double breasted and has a wrap around high collar. The back, sleeves and belt are the same as View A. View B bloomers are a copy of a vintage pair of Turkish bloomers. All shirts have a back yoke, shaped armholes and long sleeves. View A is an informal or work shirt with a front placket opening with attached cuffs and the choice of 5 different attached collars. View B is a dress shirt with a shield shaped front opening bosom with attached neckband and wristband and is worn with detachable collars and cuffs. View C is a dress shirt with a rectangular plain, 3 or 4 pleated bosom, opens front and back (optional) and is also worn with detachable collars and cuffs. The Frock and Vest A are exact copies of an antique frock and matching vest circa 1880. Vest B is a copy of a vest circa 1850. The fock coat is double breasted and can be buttoned on either side. The silk lining shows at the notched collar. It has tails at the back open to the waist and has inside pockets in both breast and in the tails.
