SPECIAL PURCHASE SLICKER

Original slickers were made of linen and treated with a mixture of linseed oil and beeswax. A fabric that is especially produced for this recreation is not nearly as flammable, but offers many of the same advantages. This is a cotton muslin material, hand painted with acrylic latex giving the seams an extra coat- making it WATER PROOF. Super light weight just like the old style it also has the traditional wool red collar with storm closure and metal buttons. It covers the entire rider as well as the saddle. The slicker is a light camel color with red trim on the collar. It has two rows of white metal buttons up the front; one for the riding position and the closer set of buttons for the walking position.

Just like the original slickers, proper care must be taken before storage or the waterproofing will stick and may separate from the fabric. The slicker should be lightly dusted with cornstarch between uses. Slickers should not be kept in hot locations such as a trunk, attic or direct sunlight.
