Here is a neat old Remington Whitmore, 10 gauge, side by side, double barrel shotgun with steel barrels and exposed hammers. The 10 gauge was only made in the Model 1878.
The Remington Whitmore was made between 1874 and 1882 and was one of the first, quality, mass produced double barrel shotguns. 30 inch barrels and all matching numbers. Total production estimated at a few thousand.
Unique lifter type action. Typical black powder shotgun bores, no rib separation. The rib does have 4 screw holes likely for some type of sight which in no long attached. Wood is in generally nice condition with a few assorted dings. The right barrel has a small dent at about 20 1/4 inches from the breach.
