Description

The serial #543 is punched into the frame under the left grip. The caliber is .44 Remington centerfire. No other marks appear on this revolver.

So called "Model 1888" or Transition Model.  In 1888 E. Remington & Sons went bankrupt and the company name changed to Remington Arms. Before the arrival of the Model 1890 a few "Model 1888" were produced. Officially there was no "Model 1888".  Six-shot, single action, 5 3/4" round barrel, re-nickel
marked on barrel: E.REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.
manufactured in 1888 and 1889, less than 500 were made. The left rose wood grip has been cracked and re-glued, bore show rifling with typical blackpowder pitted bore. The action needs minor adjusting, does not always lock up.
