The Marlin Model 1894 was manufactured from 1894 to 1905. The barrel top flat is marked (MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN. CT, U.S.A. PATENTED OCT. 11,1887. APRIL2.1889. AUG. 1, 1893.) This one is chambered for the desirable 44-40 and is so marked on the barrel.The bore is bright and shiny with wonderful strong rifling. The action works perfectly. The wood show normal handling wear and dings but no cracks and is perfectly sound. The Case Colored receiver has faded to a silvery gray patina. The barrel and magazine displays 90% original blue.
