The American Double Action was offered in .32, .38 or .44 centerfire double action revolver, 2.5", 4.5" or 6" round or octagonal barrel, 5- or 6-shot fluted cylinder (850,000 made between 1883 and 1940) That means 57 years of production. If you divide 57 into 850,000 that is over 14912 a year. This one could easily be first year of production. That said it looks like it was made yesterday. 99%+ nickel finish with perfect grips and mechanically perfect. The blackpowder bore is very good plus. A prize for any collector.
