Half Flap Holster
The Half Flap Holster became a popular civilian style during the 1860s and 1870s, when a sidearm was an everyday tool. Designed for men who spent their days on horseback or on the road, it held the revolver close to the body while the half flap helped shield it from dust, rain, and everyday wear. This design is copied from an original in the River Junction Collection, preserving the same practical features that made it a trusted piece of Old West gun leather.
Made from lightweight leather like the originals, this holster follows the graceful lines that have long made the Half Flap one of the most attractive and functional holster styles of the period. The open toe allows moisture and debris to escape, while the distinctive stitching wheel "X" pattern faithfully reproduces the details found on the original example. Finished in a lightly oiled russet leather, it develops the rich character that only honest use and time can provide.
Ment for working use, this holster fits the 1851 Colt Navy, 1860 Colt Army, 1861 Colt Navy, 1858 Remington, their period conversions, and the Colt 1871-72 Cartridge Revolvers. It accepts belts up to 2½ inches wide and is available for either left- or right-hand draw, making it equally at home on the range, horseback, or an old Mining town.
