 Authentic custom built Hawken rifle.  This Hawken was made with A grade walnut stock with just a touch of fiddle back stripe and has a preformed nickel silver forend cap.  Inlet in the stock is what I believe to be and antique patch box or grease hole it adds a touch of elegance.  The stock has the number 2412 in the barrel channel, which leads me to believe it was made by on of the well know Hawken rifle making companies of the 1970s and 80s. It has perfectly browned hardware and lock which is marked 88 on the inside. The double set triggers and all parts work as they should. Period correct rust browned 1"x 33" octagon barrel has a bright bore with 8 grooves and lands. I can find no marks on the barrel, but with the strong rifling and prominent lands and grooves it is obviously a quality barrel. The bore is .58 caliber, 1 in 70 twist. A museum quality rifle that is also suitable for hunting and target shooting. This rifle required many hours of hand labor. You can own it all for the cost of the parts alone or less that the price of an imported copy. A true bargain made by a talented rifle smith. This original piece of the rifle makers art has been used but has been very well maintained, with almost no handling marks on the stock. The walnut stock is trimmed  with iron furniture. Weight is just under 9 pounds.
