RJT#2653 -

Description

This is a VERY unusual and RARE pistol, and has become a collector's item. This is a JOHN E. GREN CONVERSION TO .38 LONG S&W Special. It was produced  by Gren in the mid to late 1970s. Gren's guns are featured in Adler's book, "Metallic Cartridge Conversions," on pages 160, 175, 190. This gun was converted in the COLT 1851 CONVERSION STYLE. Gren, was way out ahead of Kenny Howell, Bob Millington and Dave Anderson in doing conversion work. Other features include INTEGRAL FIRING PIN IN THE CONVERSION RING, LOADING GATE, REAR SIGHT IN THE HAMMER, AND EJECTOR ASSEMBLY!! The original .375 bore has been sleeved to accept the .357 diameter bullet of the .38 spec.  Workmanship is excellent overall,  the blue is near 100% and the case hardening is brilliant. The left side of the barrel is marked "J.E. Gren Spokane Wash." Further down the barrel are the markings "CH8" and ".38S&W"No collection of modern hand crafted cap and ball conversions would be complete without at least one very hard to find Gren Conversions
