z Sold Nickel Plated Antique Smith & Wesson #2 Army revolver

RJT#2878 -

Description

NICKEL PLATED Model 2, .32 caliber 6 shot revolver. It had about the same power as the popular .36 cal. Colt Navy. Because of its military associations the Model 2 quickly picked up the nickname "Old Army" even though it was never officially adopted by the military. Civilians during the westward expansion also favored these. You will see old photos with these nickel plated versions in the waist band of many an adventurous Rouge. This one is in remarkable good condition with 80 % ORIGINAL NICKEL PLATE remaining. The grips are sound with no chips or cracks and still shows about 90% original varnish, but also show one very obvious KILL NOTCH. The metal is very smooth. This revolver is serial #22916. The action works perfectly and locks up tight every time when cocked slowly. The barrel hinge is solid and the latch locks up securely. The bore has very strong rifling with some pitting. All markings are crisp and clear. The barrel is marked (Smith&Wesson Springfield Mass.) The cylinder is marked (Patent April 3, 1855. July 5,1859,  and Dec 18,1860.) But is hard to read.
