Description

Some of these were marked Spencer Safety Hammerless on the top of the barrel and some were marked  Maltry and Henley of New York. This is marked Maltly. These were designed by Otis Smith and produced by Maltry and Henley of New York. This revolver was made in the late 1800s and is the only American made revolver of that era with a safety. They only produced a couple thousand of these making them a true oddity. You gotta see it to believe it. Spencer Safety Hammerless Double Action Revolver, serial # 27636, .32 S&W cal Centerfire., 5-shot, 3" barrel, nickel finish over Gunmetal, also known as red brass, it is the same type of bronze  alloy that was used on the Henry rifle. Also set with ornate gutta percha grips. Although it looks like a top break it is not. It is a solid frame double action revolver dating from the 1890's with unique thumb safety. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 95% original factory nickel with light general patina forming and light scuffs and micro-scratching. Ornate geometric and floral pattern grips remain in excellent condition. Action is crisp, bore is at least fine. The icing on the cake is the original box. You could easily search a life time and never find the box. Mechanically perfect.
