z Sold ~ Holster for a Smith and Wesson American

RJT#2904 -

This 1870's Holster is cartouched, with an intertwining company logo on the pouch of the holster. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. was a MAJOR dealer in Chicago in the 19th century, and many famous guns went to their holsters. This double loop tooled brown leather holster fits a Smith & Wesson American revolver, which would make it a rare find. You can see the same holster as it was made for Montgomery Ward's on page 136 of PACKING IRON where it houses an S&W American. It could also be used with a Colt SAA 7 1/2 inch. The holster is in overall good condition showing the Hibbard, Bartlett and Spencer insignia and the “stock” number "9?4" on the top loop. It has some added features in that the main seam has been hand laced. It was further enhanced with metal spots added by a proud owner. The leather is fully alive and could be used, although I feel it should be preserved and displayed. My S&W "LYTLE NOVELTY CO." aluminum gun is not included and will be offer for sale separately. You could hunt a lifetime and never find one of these for your S&W American.
