Copy of a Smith & Wesson Double Action First Mod. Chambered for .44 Russian Caliber
An early Belgium Copy of a Smith & Wesson Frontier style First Model Double Action Revolver in .44 Russian cartridge. It is marked Smith & Wesson Cartridge on the top of barrel flat and, Serial Numbered 70325 there are no other markings. The barrel measures 4 1/2 inches and has a very strong rifling and bright clean shoot-able bore. This is a top-break, auto-eject, double action six shot revolver based on the S&W Patent Style. The action functions fine, strong hammer spring and lock-up is tight, single action works well. There is very little pitting or rust with the remainder of the gun smooth with 98% bright nickle finish. The hard rubber grips are in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and have an very close Copy of the S&W Logo. This would make an interesting addition to the Smith & Wesson collection to show the period patent infringements of the day, c1870's. It is a piece of history that you can now own at reasonable price. You can find these advertised in the Sears catalogs of the 1890s. If this were a Smith & Wesson it would be 3 times this price.
