This is an old English Double Barrel Shotgun made by J. White & Son. Most D/B's received extremely hard use in the U.S. before, during, and after the Civil War. 12 Gauge Damascus twist barrels. The right lock is a replacement. The left lock has the J. White name. The ribbed barrel is marked laminated steel. Nice scroll engraving on most of the metal parts and furniture. The left hammer has scroll on the side. The wood has some chips and dings but is overall solid with original varnish. The original checkering on the wrist is excellent and sharp. The wood fits tight to all metalwork with the exception of the replaced lock. Damascus barrels are in very good condition with light gray patina. The ramrod thimbles are all tight. The locks work as they should. I believe this one is a shooter.
