Description

First small caliber Swiss percussion rifle: (only issued to sharp shooters) The Model 1851 was the first military rifle in Europe to depart from the large 18mm lead ball in favor of the 10.4mm (cal .41). This example of a Model 1851 rifle has a in the bright lock plate.  The tangs and bolster are also bright. Blade front and elevation adjustable notch rear sight, with a bayonet lug on right barrel side and includes the bayonet. Double set triggers. Smooth straight grip stock with Swiss style buttplate, sling swivels,  and iron ramrod with button style head. The serial no. 95 is on the barrel twice and on the stock. A "CLG" proof is  present on the barrel in two places.
BBL: 32 inch part octagon to round., with excellent bore and rifling.
Stock: looks like curly maple.
Gauge: 41
Finish: In the bright.
Mechanically excellent.
