Description

H. E. Leman Trade Rifle, furniture is the traditional brass with iron buttplate, single triggers, and a L&R late English flintlock. This Authentic custom built rifle was made by James Lenz of Cassville Wi.  This Leman trade rifle was made with A grade curly Maple stock and has a preformed brass nose cap. Length of pull is 13 1/2 inches.  Inlettng is all precise. It has perfectly browned butt plate and barrel. All parts work as they should. Period correct rust browned 1"x 32" octagon barrel has a BRIGHT AND SHINNY  bore with 8 grooves and lands. I can find no marks on the barrel but am told it is a Montana barrel, with the strong rifling and prominent lands and grooves it is obviously a quality barrel. The bore is .54 caliber, 1 in 70 twist. A museum quality rifle that is also suitable for hunting and target shooting. This rifle required many hours of hand labor. A true bargain made by a talented rifle smith. This original piece of the rifle makers art has never been fired and is very well maintained, with no handling marks on the stock. Weight is just under 9 pounds.
