This holster was carefully copied from an original civilian holster in the River Junction Collection, preserving the details found on a genuine piece of 19th-century Old West Gun Leather. Made for the Remington 1858 revolver, this style reflects the practical gear carried by Cowboys and Lawmen across the frontier. The plain pouch design stays true to the original, where honest working use mattered far more than elaborate tooling or decoration.
This holster reflects the transitional years when many Remington 1858 percussion revolvers remained in service while some were converted to fire metallic cartridges. Rather than replacing a trusted sidearm, owners adapted what they already had, and holsters like this continued to serve both percussion revolvers and early conversion models.
Shaped by hand from quality leather, this holster fits the Remington 1858 percussion revolver and conversion models with an 8-inch barrel. The rolled border adds a traditional finishing detail, while the open-end design accommodates the longer barrel and provides a smooth draw. Available in either left-hand or right-hand draw, it stays true to the practical civilian holsters of the period. Finished in dark brown, it carries the character of traditional Old West Gun Leather made for daily use.

Each piece is cut from the hide, shaped at the craftsman’s bench, then dyed, oiled, and sewn by hand. Traditional hand stitching provides a strong, lasting seam while preserving the methods used by skilled leather workers of the period.
