Birch bark Canoe Hand Made Dates to early 1900s.
This wonderful handmade birch bark canoe. The canoe is lashed with natural materials as would have been done with a full size canoe. I do think this may have been made by someone who also did Birch bark baskets as it is decorated with quill work. This is a very rare, early, Chippewa or Ojibwa folk art piece and is not the typical tourist souvenir. The work is far superior. Some of the quill work is missing, but does not detract from the art.
DIMENSIONS: Canoe: 17" long x 4"Â wide
