z Sold Mexican knife in Bowie shape

RJT#4545 -

Description

This knife is from the 19th century. It has a horn handle with a pommel made from a shell case and a brass guard.
The blade shows some blood rust pitting and on the right side the makers mark "R. M.".
The guard is a little loose, but will not come off. Overall length 14 3/4 inches. The 10 inch blade, though pitting is very sharp.
A fighting knife for sure. No sheath. In the old days, Mexicans were notoriously deadly knife fighters.
This is one wicked looking blade with a bull horn handle.  The blade is very sharp and is in the bowie shape,
which is unusual as most Mex knives of this period are of the scorpion blade shape.
