RJT#4849 -

Description

A Hermann H. Heiser #407 Single Loop LEFT Hand Holster.
Made from premium heavy weight skirting leather and with a century of wear left in it. This holster is the #407 but a lot different than all the other #407's I have seen. The others are made with a steer head stamped on the center of the loop. They are very popular with collectors, but this is even more collectable because of the different feature it has. This holster does not have the common steer head stamp on the loop. The main seam is sewn closed and all stitches are tight.

You can see the #407 in Packing Iron on Pages 183 and 186. The Hermann H. Heiser Company was noted for producing superior quality Gun Leather from the mid
1800s through the mid 1900s. As pointed out in the "Packing Iron Book" on page 183 this holster features the narrow "quick draw belt loop that avoids interference of the holster in the grasping of the revolver grip......"
This number 407 Holster carried a 5 1/2 barreled Colt Single Action, but would also carry a 4 3/4 inch as well.
The leather is fully alive but does have a small crack above the pouch rivet other that that is has no tears and shows almost no aging. For a left hand shooter. It would be very hard to find a better early Hieser holster.

Prior to 1917 or World War one this #407 holster was the most popular of H. H. Heiser Cowboy Single Loop Designs.
The gun is not included.
