z Sold Northern Plains Steel Spearpoint Dag Knife

Rare Northern Plains, Wood handled Steel Dag Knife, Fur Trade Era. The wood handle is decorated with file imprint. The notched forged steel blade, is a trade item, War lance point with pierced heart, elongated diamond and bird shape design. Length 15 1/2 in.  This is a fabulous dag with the natural patina of rusty age. The 10 1/4 in. Blade is typical example of useful trade goods for hunting or war, but not so typical as most steel dag blades. This would be a main feature in any plains indian collection. This great piece shows no repairs or cleaning.  The piercing indicates an effort to offer style as well as function. A most unusual addition to any native American or Old West collection.
