Post-Civil War Slim Jim Revolver Holster
This Slim Jim style holster traces its beginnings to the California gold fields of the 1850s, where gold prospectors and cowboys needed a practical way to carry their revolvers close at hand, a purpose reflected in the original post-Civil War holster this reproduction was copied from, with its close-fitting design made to keep the revolver secure without adding unnecessary bulk while allowing a quick, unobstructed draw.
The light 5/6 oz leather is closely contoured to the gun, just as working holsters were made roughly 160 years ago. We chose this original pattern because its simple construction served a practical purpose: it kept a revolver close at hand while staying comfortable on the belt.
The open-toe design and right-hand draw loop make for a straightforward working rig. It fits belts up to 2 1/2 inches wide and accommodates a good range of frontier revolvers, including the Colt 1873, Colt 1860 Army and conversions, 1858 Remington and conversions, and the Remington 1875 and 1890. It will also take Colt 1851 and 1861 models and their conversions, though those fit a little less tightly.
Crafted for River Junction by our most talented leather-smith, each holster is cut from the hide in their shop, then worked and tooled at the bench. The leather is dyed, oiled, and stitched up for a perfect replica of the Original Slim Jim.
