Colt & Remington Slim Jim Revolver Holster
Copied from holsters in the River Junction Collection, this Slim Jim style reflects the kind of gun leather carried by cowboys and others who depended on a revolver across the American West after the Civil War. The open-toe design leaves the muzzle end clear, and the belt loop is positioned for a natural draw. Available for either right- or left-hand draw, the holster stays close to the revolver without adding unnecessary bulk. We chose this particular pattern because it stays true to the practical form of holsters used roughly 160 years ago.
The light 5/6 oz leather is closely contoured to the revolver, giving the holster a trim, comfortable fit on the belt. It accommodates the Colt 1873, Colt 1860 Army and conversions, 1858 Remington and conversions, along with the Remington 1875 and 1890. Colt 1851 and 1861 models and their conversions can also be carried, though they will fit somewhat looser. The belt loop accepts belts up to 2 1/2 inches wide.
These holsters are made for River Junction by our leather-smith, who cuts each one directly from the hide and works it at the bench. The leather is hand-shaped and tooled, then dyed and oiled by hand. That traditional process gives each holster the small variations you expect from something made one at a time, rather than stamped out by a machine.
