Description

This is an original, antique, buck tan colored, commercially tanned pullover shirt. Made from velvety soft kid goat leather.  It is machine sewn with tiny machine sewn stitches throughout.  The button hole stitching is machine done with the care of a fine kid goat glove maker. The cuff buttons placate is closed with dark tan tagua nut buttons. This shirt was made about 1890 to 1900. The stitching is in good shape for the age with no loose stitches. The collar is closed with leather string through nickel plated eyelets.  The leather fringe runs down the inside of the sleeve and the side of the body. On the lower left side of the body there is about a 6 inch tear in the Kid goat hide and some fringe missing on the inside of the left sleeve. This shirt is a size 34 or 36 inch chest measurement and would fit the average man of the time. This is of museum quality and certainly tells a story of the American West. Shirts of this style were often made by uniform factories for Cavalry Officers and for cowboys during our westward expansion and can be seen in old photos of early cowboys. The  other accompanying props are not included. Rare to find as these were often used up. Great for a museum, cowboy room antique gun display. From the real west.   We always answer questions and entertain offers.
