z Sold Antique Frontier Army Revolver

RJT#5870 -

Description

This revolver was made in Belgium for the American market in the 1880s. An interesting ANTIQUE REVOLVER in 44-40 WCF with a 5 3/8 in. barrel. It is stamped "Frontier Army" on the top strap. It is chambered for 44 WCF (.44-40) a good old American Frontier caliber. It locks up tight, cycles, and all parts function. These guns were offer by Sears Roebuck and Mongomery Wards in the 1880s 90s.

The rear cylinder face shows"ELG" in an oval proof mark. The butt plate has a lanyard ring.  The gun has smooth grey patina with traces of old blue. The striking feature are the magnificent walnut grips. They have no chips or cracks and virtually no wear.
The bore is bright with strong rifling. Many of these were used in Wild West Show performances for use in shooting glass target balls.
These revolvers were carried in the Old West and I have seen many of these used as props in old photographers studios. Shown here is page 572 from the 1897 Sears Roebuck and Co. catalog show this gun in the 3rd column on the right.
This is an ANTIQUE and can be shipped directly to you. Sold as an Antique ~ no guarantees, warranties, or liabilities for any actual usage. If any firearms are to be used for shooting purposes, a qualified gunsmith should inspect them first.
Adult Signature required.
