Description

Hudson Bay Point blanket. This is a beautiful Harvest Gold blanket with dark gold head bars. This color is very seldom seen and highly collectable. This trappers point blanket measuring 3 1/2 points size 62” X 84” by actual measure. That measurement indicates this blanket has likely never been wash but possibly dry cleaned, and that is a good thing. Sewn on label is shown. According to Tichenor's The Collector's Guide to Point Blankets this label dates to the early 1930's. This blanket is in excellent condition. There are no rips, tears holes or smells. Raw edged at top and bottom as all Hudson Bay blankets. The VINTAGE HUDSON BAY 3 1/2 POINT WOOL BLANKET label is in perfect condition. Has the stripes at either end and the trader point marks. A piece of history - perfect for your bed, cabin or camp. This blanket weighs about 5+ pounds and is really nice!
Hudson's Bay point blanket is a Canadian icon. In 1779, HBC (Hudson Bay Company) commissioned the textile mill of Thomas Empson of Witney, Oxfordshire, to produce pointed blankets. During the 1800s, their warmth and durability made them a favorite of the Native peoples, traders, and pioneers. Today, these blankets are still essential gear.
