z Sold Ivory cane-Egyptian Pharaoh Thutmose III

RJT#6038 -

Description

Egyptian pre ban 1920 Ivory cane head. What a great piece from the Egyptian revival era. This sager/walking stick measure 36 1/2 inches over all. The Ivory head is a very close likeness of Thutmose III an Egyptian Pharaoh. Thutmose III, was one of the greatest military kings that ever ruled Egypt. He engaged relentlessly in military campaigns.  His campaigns yielded slaves, booty and even tribute over the long run. This stick is more of a show piece than a walking aid. The Pharaohs head is of coarse the crowning feature, but over all the entire stick speaks of a great deal of vanity and was likely a commissioned . The shaft is of finely finished Ebony with an Ivory finial. The 24 Ivory dots on the upper stick represent the years of  Thutmose's  reign.  CLICK HERE For More on Thutmose III The photo of the  bust of Thutmose III is shown here to compare to the stick head.
