Description

A beautifully carved Lion head walking stick made of a dark brown hard wood with a horn finial. This piece features a Lions head as the pommel and has been carved by quite a skilled craftsmen. There is no obvious chips, only a few cracks, but all are stable and have been there for a century and likely will be for a century more. Late 19th century. A naturalistic carving depicting a Lion-head looking fearsome as if to attack. Distinguished by a creamy and uniform patina covering this piece with character and allure.   This beautiful quality ivory handle is 1 3/4 inches high x 2 1/2 inches long and  2 3/4 inches wide, embellished with inset glass eyes. There is a reposed 18k gold collar and is so marked along with a clover leaf cartouche. The O.L. is 34 1/4 inches, it has minimal signals of use, surviving in pristine condition without dents or chips, the condition is perfect.  Other items shown are not included.
