Beautifully carved boar hunt crook formed handle with high relief Wild Boar Head, “note the ivory tusks showing in the boars mouth”. One side features a Giant Eland Head with a Hound head in pursuit, each with inset glass eyes. The other side features a naturalistic carving depicting a hunter with a spear ready to deliver the Coup de Crace. Distinguished by a creamy and uniform patina covering this piece with character and allure, you will not find another Ivory Cane like this anywhere. This Ivory Cane is truly a great example of Late 19th century craftsmanship.
The handle measures 5” long. This beautiful Ivory Cane also features a skillfully done, 1 inch Sterling Silver collar with detailed horse heads on either side and a well executed scroll along the top. Mounted on a beautifully finished and tapered, stepped bamboo wood shaft with 1" tapered brass and iron ferrule, giving this cane a total length of 34 1/2”. The pommel was carved by a talented artist with great attention to detail. There is an expert repair on the butt of the handle, in no way does the repair detract from the beauty of this Cane. All components are stable and have been there for a century and likely will be for a century more.
Walking sticks of this distinction sell from $2500.00 to $5000.00. Because of the repair I am offering it at the most favorable price of $1295.00
