Description

This is an original, antique, buck tan colored, commercially tanned pullover shirt. Made from velvety soft kid goat leather.  It is machine sewn with tiny machine sewn stitches throughout.  The stitching is done with the care of a fine kid goat glove maker. This shirt was made about 1900 to 1920. The stitching is in good shape for the age with no loose stitches. The main feature of the shirt is the pinking cut around the pockets, collar, back shoulders and around the chest placket. The collar is closed with leather string through brass eyelets.  Leather fringe runs across the front of both pockets and across the back of the body. This shirt is in very good condition throughout. This shirt is a size 34 or 36 inch chest measurement and would fit the average man of the time. This is of museum quality and certainly tells a story of the American Wild West show era. Shirts of this style were often made by uniform factories for Cavalry Officers and for cowboys during our westward expansion and can be seen in old photos of early cowboys. Included with the shirt is the real bone breast plate make with red and black glass beads and trimmed with solid brass beads. The  other accompanying props are not included. Rare to find as these were often used up. Great for a museum, cowboy room antique gun display. From the real west.
