Description

SCARCE Antique COLT 1862 POLICE Revolver. It filled a niche in the market for a pocket revolver suited for civilians and police of a larger caliber (.36).  A scaled down version of the 1860 Army. The result was a sleek, stylish and light, 5-shot pocket revolver in .36 caliber. Unfortunately for Colt, the commercial market for the 1862 Police was overshadowed by cartridge revolvers. These factors make the 1862 Police Revolver in its original percussion format quite scarce and sought after by collectors today.
The barrel address reads “ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA”.

The overall condition is good. The original blue finish is turned grey. Tiny traces of the silver remain on the trigger guard. The markings are clear and legible. All serial numbers match. The walnut grips are worn with a large chip on the right side, but smooth and solid otherwise. The rifling is sharp with some pitting. The action is excellent. Here is a rare & desirable Colt Police made around the beginning of the Civil War! (other items pictured are not included)

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 6-1/2 inches.

Caliber: .36 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
