The U.S. Model 1869 50-70 Government centerfire rifle was manufactured at Springfield Armory in 1869. They were made from altered Model 1863 58 caliber percussion muskets with barrels lined to 50 caliber. The 32 5/8"" round barrel has an excellent bore. The barrel, trigger guard, butt plate, and bands are unpolished. The breechblock, marked 1869 over an eagle, has grey color. The lock, marked U.S./SPRINGFIELD with eagle and 1864 date. The stock is good with some wear, a few nicks no cracks, and strong and sound . The action functions perfectly.
