Description



Invented in 1856 by Dr. J.A.F. LeMat of New Orleans and manufactured in Paris France, and Birmingham, England. The LeMat was a favorite sidearm of Confederate Generals Jeb Stuart and P.G.T. Beauregard. A single .20 gauge shotgun barrel under the .44 cylinder barrel makes the LeMat a unique firearm. Grips are 2 piece checker European Walnut. Metal parts are richly blued.The octagonal rifled barreled is 6 3/4” long. It has 7 lands and grooves. Dove tailed front sight and rear sight located on the hammer nose. Located beneath the rifled revolver barrel is a single .20 gauge smoothbore barrel.  The hammer nose is rotated downward to strike a nipple for the smooth barrel.  The revolver uses #11 caps. The cylinder is 9 shot .44 Caliber. 1 in 30” twist. The hammer is color case harden as is the trigger. Original “COL. LEMAT” markings are present on the barrel. Made in Italy by Pietta. The cavalry model has a spur trigger guard with cross pin type barrel selector and lever barrel release. Recommended load is 22 grains FFFg powder, .454 round ball, with a .44 revolver wad.  Manufactured in 2018 This is new old stock. No add on fees for credit cards. No FFL required.
