Description

The Bisley is a part of the Colt Single Action “family” and was produced from 1894 until 1915. It reflected a growing interest in target shooting. Using many of the same components, including the cylinder, barrel and ejector rod, the Bisley maintained a basic SAA layout. There are some subtle and not-so-subtle differences, the most obvious being the swept-under grip, which enables the Bisley to handle better. The enlarged trigger guard and wide, curved trigger is better for control; and the wavy lowered hammer spur made it easer for cocking with the ball of the thumb.
Less obvious differences are mostly mechanical. The different mainspring, the deeper frame and the backstrap screws that affix it to the frame under the grips. In addition, in order to reach the cylinder ratchets, the hammer hand is longer than that of the Model P.
This Colt Bisley Model single action revolver, chambered for .38-40 cal., and has a 4-3/4” barrel. It has a mostly grey finish, with very attractive pair of Hash Mark Bone Grips. Serial #319964 manufactured in 1911.
This gun is in overall very good condition showing no pitting and a very good bright bore. The action is crisp and lockup is tight.
