Made using Elk Hide, these Leggings are done in the Sioux tradition, maybe for Pow-wow. The legs are closed with a simple running stitch with fringe up to about mid thigh. A strap decorated with silver conchos with silver spots and a Blue, Orange, White and Yellow beaded horsehair tassel at the ends. Possibly made in the 1940s. There are 2 repairs, one is missing the patch the other patch is holding strong. Rivets hold the ties on, as well as the decorative straps. One leg has some staining, both have age wear. These have been well loved but are still very usable, the leather is still strong no stiff or brittle spots.
