The Sheffield Story.
World famous Sheffield knifes are made in the town of Sheffield, located in South Yorkshire,England,Sheffield has been existence for centuries and has been renowned for its knife production in Europe by the late 1600's and became even more prestiges with the invention of the crucible steel and silver plating in the 1700's. After the discoveries which vastly improved the quality of steel, Sheffield became the standard of quality against which other knife manufactures were held. There was not initially a central factory for producing knifes, all work was done by members of a guild who worked out of their own shops. This is why Sheffield knifes bear the name of the maker as well as the Sheffield England stamp. Members of the guild were held to the highest form of craftsmenship, each knife was presented to the guild master who examined it for imperfections. If a knife passed the scrutiny of the master then it was deemed perfect. It was this tedious system of quality control that ensured the integrity of the Sheffield reputation.
This knife shows no major wear or nicks. The blade is sharp with a couple of blood pits. See photos.
