Based on a pattern found in a museum, our most-popular coat design, the Mackinaw is the most authentic Old West coat you will find anywhere. Hand-made by River Junction, these coats are made with two layers, using selected quality wool material from only the finest U. S. textile mills for both the outer layer and the lining. The wool is produced in the USA and weighs 16-22 oz a yard.
This is the Last of this material!
The outer layer comes in a Grey Plaid, and the lining is a black wool. This makes it one of the warmest period-correct mackinaw coats you can find. This coat features a eight-button front, and four-pockets in the front with leather trim for durability and a clean finish, and a Shawl collar that can be pulled up to cut the wind and rain and fits snugly under your cowboy hat, making a perfect shell to keep you out of the elements.
A size 46 coat weighs about 4.5 lbs. That is a little heavier than a Hudson Bay 4 point blanket.
By far it is our most complimented garment for good looks, quality wool fabrics, and excellent construction at an incredibly great price. Makes a great holiday or birthday gift for your special someone ~ and that includes yourself.
