Description

This holster was offered by Montgomery Ward & Co. It was know to be manufactured by WYETH HARDWARE  of St.Joseph, Mo. This single loop holster was shop made and beautifully and elaborately hand stamped. The main seam is sewn and all stitching is tight. The workmanship is excellent, and equal to that of shops like Heiser and others. This holster will fit a large assortment of long barreled revolvers. I am showing it here with a 1858 Remington conversion with an 8 inch barrel and it is a perfect fit. When I got it, it had many wads of brown wrapping paper stuffed in the toe to make it fit a shorter barrel length. It would be idea for a S&W American with it's 8 inch barrel and if you have one of these you know how hard it is to find a vintage holster for it.  This is a single loop style with the loop sewn to the skirt. Stamped on the back is an 8, indicating 8 inch barrel, but as you can use it works for a 7 1/2 inch  Colt just as well. Can be seen in "Packing Iron"on page 135 and also inside the front cover. The pouch has a large stamp of a horse and rider with the loop showing two running deer. The leather is in excellent condition, soft, flexible, clean, showing near new condition. All stitching is tight and secure. The leather is alive and would give years of displaying with your antique S&W. Oh yea I also most forgot the belt made is by the same company and is the perfect go with for the holster. It is marked 2684 and 44 indicating the caliber of the 35 bullet loops. All the stitching is intact.    This belt and holster are looking for a FINE revolver to add that final touch.  My gun is not included.
