RJT#5771 -

Description

A rare small size Percussion Pistol Blunderbuss with steel 9 3/8 inch barrel. Sometimes referred to as a "Knee Blunderbuss". The percussion lock is marked London and the barrel is marked the same, although the barrel marking is well worn. Percussion Blunderbusses are far rarer than their flintlock predecessors.  Likely 1840s. All furniture is steel save for the nose cap which is brass.(if that is what you call it on a blunderbuss.) Steel ramrod pipe, sling swivels, butt-plate and trigger guard. Another feature that is different than the flintlock blunderbuss is the cap box in the stock, which is also steel. Overall length 17 3/4 inches. Good, but well used condition woodwork showing some minor repairs. (please see photo).  The lock-plate and hammer have some light engraving. The lock functions in safe and full cock. These were sometimes used as coach guns or Sheriff guns in Europe
