Description
Prior to 1816, hats were pulled on perfectly circular blocks. When the head opening was reshaped to accommodate the head shape, the base elongated and the top stayed perfectly circular resulting in the tapered "bell" appearance when viewed from the front or back.
This 10X felt bell crown top hat -- has a 1 1/2" crown ribbon, with a 3" bound brim width and a 7" crown height -- is done in this manner.
