Hopkins & Allen Ranger No. 2 with green "malachite" grips
Description:
A very nice Hopkins & Allen Ranger No 2 revolver in 32rf cal. with
birds head grips, round barrel, and fluted cylinder. It retains about
97% of the original nickel still with bright finish. It has a set of
factory "malachite" grips which are quite rare. These are, of course, an
early man made material, perhaps a resin based material. H&A
offered 8 colors of grips for a period in the 1870s to the 1890s to
enhance the appeal of their spur trigger revolvers. These, in green,
were called Malachite. Others were called Ruby, Jasper, Carnelian, Ivory
(not real), Amber, Coral, and Agate. This gun is mechanically fine,
has excellent markings, and is close to new in appearance. Serial number
5xx.
.32 short rimfire caliber, 5 shot single action revolver, spur trigger, solid flat frame, 2 3/4" round barrel, fluted cylinder, birdshead Mother Of Pearl grips, , marked HOPKINS & ALLEN M'F'G. CO. RANGER NO. 2 on the top of the frame. PAT. MArch 28, 1871on the top of the barrel. Original nickel plate covers 95% of the antique finish. The Mother of Pearl grips are excellent no chips or cracks.
This is the type of gun that great grandma would carry in her muff to discourage mashers and muggers in the 1880s. Or would serve equally as well as a vest pocket gun for a gent. CAN BE SHIPPED DIRECTLY TO YOU. Mechanically perfect
