The rear cylinder face shows"ELG" in an oval proof mark. The butt plate has a lanyard ring. The gun has smooth brown patina with traces of old nickel plate. The striking feature is the magnificent grips. They have an elephant head at the top and on the bottom a Griffin. The trigger guard has a trigger guard spur. The spur indicates this is one of the earlier Frontier Army variations.
The bore is dark with shallow rifling. Many of these were used in Wild West Show performances for use in shooting glass target balls.
These revolvers were carried in the Old West.
