An English double barrel water fowl gun that has been modified for guard duty on the American frontier. It
is a 10 GA. made by J.P. Clabrough Bros. in London, England and has been cut to 20" Laminated Steel barrels with
bright bores overall length of
37". The gun has outside hammers with a side lever opener. Profusely engraved with English scroll on the locks, frame and trigger guard. The
wood has no major chips, heavy dents, or repairs. The butt-plate is smooth steel. This gun was made in the 1870's. Has a straight stock with brass a shield in it.
There
are flourishes of floral scroll engraving on the lock plates, receiver,
trigger plate, break lever, hammers and forearm hardware. The barrels have a single
brass bead sight and the rib is engraved "J.P. Clabrough Bros. London, England". Has 2 3/4 inch chambers with an
extractor. Mounted on a nice straight grain, multi-point checkered walnut forearm which is retained by a barrel key. Length of pull is 14 3/4 inches. It is mechanically perfect. Used by Express
companies, bank guards, jail and prison guards for the formidable and
terrorizing effects that they could bring to bear. Also popular among
Marshals and Sheriffs for their mobility and lenient accuracy at close
quarters. The feel and action of this legendary Old West tool will
transport you back to the time, when your trusty shotgun was your last
and best line of defense. Lock up is tight and secure without a HINT of MOVEMENT.
