Heavy Antiqued Smooth Bone Grips for the 1st Gen Colt SA
Smooth bone grips have a long association with the working life of the cattle trails, where bone was a plentiful material and little went to waste. Around the bunkhouse and camp, working cowboys made use of what was already at hand, turning ordinary cattle bone into useful articles and personal gear. That practical tradition eventually found its way onto the grips of working revolvers, where the plain material could be shaped, polished, and given a character all its own.
These two-piece smooth bone grips are made to order specifically for your 1st Generation Colt Single Action Army. The grip frame is used as the reference for shaping and fitting, allowing the finished grips to follow the individual revolver rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all style. Heavy antiquing brings out the natural imperfections in the bone and gives the finished pair the aged character associated with old trail-used grips.
For the best fit, we prefer to have the firearm here for fitting. If sending the complete revolver is not practical, we can work from your original grips along with the back strap and trigger guard. Either way, those original parts give us what we need to fit the new grips properly.
