On the Dodge Cowboy Hat
The On the Dodge started as a request from our hat man Paul, who was looking for a lower, more practical crown and a smaller brim than what you typically find in taller Western profiles. Something that still carried the spirit of the Old West, but rode a little closer to the head and handled everyday wear without fuss.
The final shape takes its cue from classic working hats of the frontier, with a slight pinch and pecan-shaped crown that brings in elements seen in styles like Marshal Dillon’s hat from Gunsmoke, and a profile that will also look familiar to those who know the film Hidalgo. The lower crown and reduced brim give the On the Dodge a closer, more practical fit, made for long wear without feeling tall or top-heavy. The crown is finished at about 4½ inches, paired with a 4-inch bound brim that keeps the hat balanced, functional, and ready for regular use in the saddle or around town.
This is a hat meant for real use—something that sits right whether you're in the saddle, around camp, or moving through town. It carries the look of a working hat that’s been shaped by necessity rather than fashion.
