Decorative Shoe Button Covers

A wonderful set of Shoe Button Covers.  Brass with Enamel in a lovely leaf like design. 

This kind of item became popular in the early part of the 1900's, going into the 20's, when Ladies shoes shortened to show more ankle, and fewer buttons were needed, and straps were coming into wide use.  Ladies still wanted something fancy on their shoes, not the plain buttons that were in use, so the Shoe Button Cover was born.  

Made with a "U" shaped bar that fit over the strap, the "U" bend would fit down around the button allowing the top of the cover to sit over the button.
