Territorial Prison Guard Deer Lodge Montana Badge

The Territorial Prison In Deer Lodge MT was originally commissioned in 1867 and remained in service until 1979.   

To help with the influx of thieves, gamblers and other rough sorts arriving in time for the Gold Rush of the 1860s, Montana Territory requested funding for a Prison, and it was granted in the Winter Congressional session of 1866-67.

Guards would have worn badges like our silver plated, antiqued and double dye struck badges.

Clearly marked "Territorial Prison Guard Deer Lodge Montana"

 You can pin it proudly and securely with pin and holder soldered on in the fashion used in the Old West. 

Badge comes "antiqued" but Polishes up real nice if you prefer a newer looking badge!
